I started this company in 1985. It was started due to the fact that I had ordered some products and really didn’t like the quality of the merchandise I received. It was then I started to build products for my own trucks and as I was out I started getting requests for the things I had on my trucks and the things I had done to my trucks.
I did this in a limited way for 10 years working only word of mouth more or less until I moved out to the current location. Here I built our current fabrication shop and started to advertise our products. I built everything myself for the first year like I had the past ten years until I simply could not keep up with the orders. At this time I hired a couple friends and taught them the way I wanted things done. This was fun times and angry times. It was like Orange county choppers at times I was told with me being Sr. but eventually I mellowed out once they came around to my way of thinking.
I also have a Non-Destructive testing company which is my main profession. Industrial Testing Inc., provides testing services mainly for the Pulp and Paper Industry, Marine industries and manufacture and repair industries. I have worked all around the United States and Canada performing these services. Periodically I receive calls from customers that are located in the areas I have worked. It is nice to chat with people that know the areas I have visited and it seems to make them more comfortable that I know their areas as well. So if you need some testing services give me a call. Really I have been to paper mills from Maine to California, Florida to Washington and everywhere in between.
I have done well with these two businesses and they have provided my family with a lot of opportunities. I try to make things fun for all who are around either here or when we are out on the road performing out testing service or when we are at shows or events demonstrating our products. If ya see us out there stop by and say hey!
I got divorced in 2005 and got full custody of my boy and had some trouble running both businesses hence the bad words by a few customers about Badland Bumpers Mfg., during that time. Most people can find this on line. Since getting over that things have been good. At this time my son Cody has been taking over the bumper business as far as the manufacturing aspect. I got him started fabricating parts for his own trucks at around 13 years of age. He is a great welder and fabricator and has a great attitude about the business and has been taking the company to the next level. Luckily the older employees have found to have respect for him and his way of running the shop. I still do most of the office work but I have been getting him involved with these different aspects of the business so pretty soon you will be dealing with him full time.
Things we like to do obviously include wheeling our rigs, however, we've got quads, love the dunes!!!, bikes, guns, boats, hot rods and now drift cars, and race karts. I would like to thank everyone that has helped us along the way to get to where we are now. We could not have done this without the support of our friends and family and that includes our customers.
The bottom line is do the best you can with what you got. Be the best you can in everything you do and finally do what you can to make people happy. Life is to short not to.
Thank You!
